Welcome

Welcome to my journey, I appreciate your desire to know of my life and all things wacky.

Please do not expect this to be a formal blog with really BIG words.  I am pretty simple almost never straight to the point and would rather use a four letter word as an adjective or verb than a BIG word.

If you are just joining my world, here is a bit of history.  I am a wife of almost 10 years to a wonderful active duty Navy man.  We have one son, one dog, and countless family members and friends spread everywhere.  We currently reside in Southern Maryland (at least the kid, dog, and I do- my husband seems to be off gallivanting around the world).  Due to my husbands most recent adventure we determined it was best for me to leave my identity career and stay home with our son.  Apparently a 50+ mile commute one way to a grueling, stressful, unappreciative company, playing mom & dad, taxi, housekeeper, dietitian, and organizer of all - seemed to be too much to handle.  My husband thought it would be best if I stayed home to be there for our son.  (Of course I will always say it was his idea- it will make him feel better)
Today's topic- Unexpected adventures
If you have all been an active member of the human race - you know about Murphy's Law- and Impulse
Our story begins with a hard decision.  It has been decided that if my husband has a day break between training and deployment, we (me, kid, dog) will not drive the 500 miles to see him.  The usual excuses - time away from school, the cost of fuel, eating out, hotel.  That is a lot of expense for one day.  It is a good thing we decided not to plan a trip.  There are trainings everyday and they will not be able to leave.
The text I receive on Thursday at 4:00 pm is- they have released us until Saturday at 09:00.  The reply text to him- Give me an hour to pack and we are on our way.
1st step- turn on LaPavoni- will need espresso for this one.
2nd step- pack!!
3rd step- hotel that takes dogs and has a suite for adults
After a 7 hour drive we pick up the other member of our family and head to the hotel.  I walk in at 1:30 am as a travel weary consumer and think uh-oh what have I done?  This place is swank- fountains in the lobby, settees, and a pretty nice place.  This is like the Beverly Hillbilly's have hit!
Fast Forward to the next morning>>>>
Blitz (Dog) to Mommy- Nose in face, can you please take me out, I gotta go pee.
Since we are not in our own home this is a tad more difficult.  It requires me to get dressed fully (including undergarments), comb hair, and brush teeth.  All while Fido is doing the peepee dance.  Dog on leash, exit room, elevator.  Oh great the elevator is glass and is seen from the lobby where everyone is eating their breakfast.  I can see them point and say "Look at the dog"  elevator opens to a convention people everywhere in suits.  I am tugging at the poor puppy hoping he doesn't decide to hike his leg on one of the indoor plants as we pass.  Yes, we prevail out the door and to a real tree...
In closing yes the trip was impulsive and totally worth it.  I would never be sorry I spent one more night with my husband and let my son spend time with him.
